Euroopasta

Tänään oli mukava päivä. Saimme kirjeen ja kortin: Alankomaat ja Saksa

Today was a nice day. We received a letter and a card: the Netherlands and Germany.

Toisessa, meidän toiveidemme mukaisessa kortissa, on kaunis, hämyisä kuutamo. Silvia arvelee, että  meidän pitäisi ladata maisemaa auringonvalolla hieman, joutuihan se olemaan pimeässä kirjekuoressa kauan. ;)
Ja Vincentin maalaus on sanoinkuvaamattoman upea! Kiitos kaikista!

Silvia’s letter contained a special surprise intended for us. She knew we were fond of Greece, which is why she sent us a postcard from Thessaloniki that she had received from her pen pal. Another card—chosen just to our liking—features a beautiful, mystical moonlit scene. Silvia suggests we should let the landscape soak up some sunlight, seeing as it spent so long in the darkness of the envelope. ;)
And Vincent’s painting is absolutely magnificent! Thank you for everything!

We received a picture from Olaf in Mainz featuring two lively young rascals—the sort of boy he admits to having been himself while growing up in Hamburg. He still misses the sea, the wind, and sailing from those days. Nowadays, he works as a physicist in Mainz. Many thanks for the card and the greetings!

Heinäkuun kortit 3

Virolainen Andry osallistui Alankomaissa Postcrossing-tapaamiseen, josta hän lähetti kortin. Mukavaa, että harrastajia riittää eri maissa. Kiitos kortista! Andry kertoo olevansa todellinen matkustelija. Tähän mennessä on kertynyt jo 162 maata, hurja määrä. Hyviä matkoja sinulle edelleen!

Andry says that he is a real traveler. So far, he has already visited 162 countries, a huge number. Happy travels to you!

Pohjois-Puolasta saimme Magdan kauniin maisemakortin kirjeessä. Hieno! Hän kertoo nauttivansa vapaa-aikoinaan meren aaltojen rauhoittavasta keinunnasta. Paljon hän etsii myös nähtävyyksiä autolla ajellen. Kiitos kortista ja terveisistä!

We received a beautiful landscape card from Magda in the letter from northern Poland. Great! She says that she enjoys the soothing swaying of the ocean waves in her free time. She also does a lot of sightseeing by car. Thank you for the card and greetings!

Oikein hyvä! me olemme suuria Kreikan ystäviä ja olemme käyneet monta kertaa juuri Rodoksella. Siksi oli mukava saada kortti sieltä. Paljon kiitoksia!

Are the two flags, French and Greek, confusing? Well, the reason is that the Frenchwoman Brigitte spent her vacation on the island of Rhodes and sent a Greek tourist card from there. Very good! We are big friends of Greece and have been to Rhodes many times. That's why it was nice to receive a card from there. Thank you very much!

Viimeinen kortti on kaukaa Kiinasta. Lähettäjä on Xuxu, joka asuu pääkaupungissa Beijingissä. Kortti on erikoisen mallinen ja sisältää herkullisia tuotteita. Xuxu kertoo nyt olevan se aika vuodesta, jolloin on mukava mennä vilvoittavan joen rannalle nauttimaan kylmästä oluesta. Varmasti mukavaa!

This concludes May with the final three cards that came out today: Netherlands, Austria, and USA.

Alankomaiden Rotterdamista saimme herkullisen kattauksen Lauralta, Frutti Di Mare. Hän liitti mukaan aforismin jaetun onnellisuuden kukoistuksesta. Suurkiitos ajatuksesta ja kortista!

Itävallasta Wienin eteläpuolelta tuli Doriksen kortti, jossa on ilmeisesti kuva jostakin sadusta ( Aus Im Garten der Pusteblumen/ Voikukkien puutarhasta suomeksi ). Se on hieno! Doris on vieläkin innoissaan Itävallassa pidetyistä Euroviisujen loppukilpailusta, jonka hän näki televisiosta. Me emme sitä nähneet. Kiitos kortista ja terveisistä!

A card from Doris arrived from Austria, south of Vienna, with a picture apparently from some fairy tale (Aus Im Garten der Pusteblumen/ From the Dandelion Garden). That's great! Doris is still excited about the Eurovision finals held in Austria, which she saw on TV. We didn't see it. Thanks for the card and the greetings!

Michiganin osavaltiosta saimme hyvin tiedottavan kartan alueesta. Sopii mainiosti meidän osavaltiokarttakokoelmaamme. Lähettäjä on pirteä Kati, josta elokuussa tulee isoäiti. Mielenkiintoiset ajat tulossa! Hänellä on moninaisia harrastuksia, joita voimme päätellä hänen olevan reipashenkinen rouva: snorklaus, kaikenlainen rantaelämään liittyvä, rockhunting (?), lukeminen ja matkustelu. Kiitos terveisistä ja kartasta! Hyvää isoäitiaikaa!

We received a very informative map of the area from the state of Michigan. It fits perfectly into our state map collection. The sender is the cheerful Kati, who will become a grandmother in August. Kumpa voisimmekin. Oikein paljon kiitoksia terveisistä ja kortista!

Far from China, the city of Changsha in central South China, we received a cryptic picture - that is, in a foreign Chinese language. With the translator, we found out that it is an old Qing Dynasty map. The sender is Richard, who describes his country as beautiful and asks to visit it. Either we could. Thank you very much for the greetings and the card!

Lopuksi vielä kaikista suurin kortti, jonka olemme saaneet. Se tuli Hong Kongista. Kuvassa näemme taide-esineen, upean ruukun, joka ilmeisesti kuuluu Soluna fine art-tuotantoon. Sosiaalityöntekijä Nikolalta saimme mukavan talvisen kortin, jossa tunnistamme tutun myyrän. Hän on lähettänyt korttinsa ennen joulua. Otamme tervehdykset vastaan hieman noloina. Olemme olleet kuukauden poissa kotoa. Kaikkea hyvää sinulle, Nikola!

We received a nice winter card from social worker Nikola, in which we recognize a familiar mole. She sent her card before Christmas. We receive the greetings with a little embarrassment. We have been away from home for a month. All the best to you, Nikola!

Saimme kaksi korttia myös Suomesta. Ensimmäinen tuli mansikkapitäjästä Suonenjoelta. Siellä asuvat Juhani ja hänen vaimonsa, eläkeläisiä molemmat. Hyvää aikaa harrastaa Postcrossinkia! Kortissa on näkymä "Radan varrelta". Sen on maalannut tunnettu ITE-taiteilija Aulis Jalkanen, jolla on paikkakunnalla oma museokin. Kiitos paljon kuvasta!
