Kasa kynnyksellä

 

Voi hurja, mikä määrä kortteja oli vastassa, kun palasimme taas Padasjoelle. Meille tuli 15, Mommi sai peräti 17 korttia! Nyt alamme selvitellä niitä.

Oh my, what a number of cards we had when we returned to Padasjoki. We got 15, Mommi got no less than 17 cards! Now we're starting to sort them out.

Qatarista ja kauempaa

 Saimme ensimmäistä kertaa kortin Qatarista - oikeastaan Hong Kongista, lisäksi postia tuli Malesiasta, USA:sta sekä Saksasta.

We received a card from Qatar for the first time - actually from Hong Kong, but we also received mail from Malaysia, the USA and Germany.

Cesar oli matkoillaan Keski-idässä käymässä Qatarissa. Kun hän yritti postittaa korttinsa meille, kävi ilmi, ettei se ollut sieltä mahdollista. Niinpä hän lähetti sen vasta palattuaan kotiin Hong Kongiin. Mutta me rekisteröimme sen tietenkin Qatariin. Kiitos kortista ja kauniista postimerkeistä!

Cesar was traveling in the Middle East, visiting Qatar. When he tried to mail his card to us, it turned out that it wasn't possible from there. So he only sent it when he got back home to Hong Kong. But of course we registered it in Qatar. Thank you for the card and the beautiful stamps!

Malesian Kuala Lumpurissa asuu Zain, joka lähetti todella kesäisen ( +28 C ) ja värikkään kuvan viidakosta ja sen erikoisesta keisarisarvinokka linnusta. Itsestään hän kertoo työskentelevänsä TV-alalla mm. tuottaen dokumenttiohjelmia. Mielenkiintoista! Paljon kiitoksia!

Zain lives in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and sent us a really summery ( +28 C ) and colorful picture of the jungle and its special Great hornbill bird. He says that he works in the TV industry, for example, producing documentaries. Interesting! Thank you very much!

Hannah kertoo asuvansa hyvin kylmässä osavaltiossa Koillis-USA:ssa, Vermontissa. Hänen korttinsa kuva voisi olla otettu talvella meillä Suomessa, niin tutulta se näyttää. Hyvin kaunista! Kiitos kortista ja terveisistä!

Hannah says she lives in a very cold state in the northeastern US, Vermont. The picture on her card could have been taken in winter here in Finland, it looks so familiar. Very beautiful! Thank you for the card and greetings!

Rowenan kortissa on todella kaunis vuori- ja järvimaisema. Ei käynyt ilmi, mistä se on. Hän kertoo viettäneensä Ukrainassa kaksi kuukautta ja menettäneensä sydämensä sen kansalle ja kulttuurille. Osallistuminen kaatuneen sotilaan hautajaisiin toi hänelle hyvin selväksi, miten vaikeaa on tavallisten ihmisten elämä sodan runtelemassa maassa. Mekin toivomme, että rauha saataisiin pian syntymään Ukrainaan. Kiitos kortista!

Rowena's card has a really beautiful mountain and lake landscape. It was not clear where it was from. She says that she spent two months in Ukraine and lost her heart to its people and culture. Attending the funeral of a fallen soldier made it very clear to her how difficult the lives of ordinary people are in a war-torn country. We also hope that peace will soon be born in Ukraine. Thank you for the card!

And finally to Europe. Ronja's message came from Hamburg, Germany. In the picture we see idyllic buildings behind a ship sailing on the river. Really beautiful! She says she is enjoying the peace after going to take care of her friend's pets in a nearby small town. Thanks for the greetings!

Keskiviikon kaksoset

 

Kylmän talvipäivän kevennykseksi saimme Pohjois-Saksasta, Leeristä, kesäisen kuvan Evenburgin linnasta. Hyvin vaikuttava rakennus! Kortin lähetti Weert-Peter, joka kertoo eläköityneensä viime vuonna. Nyt hänellä ja vaimolla on hyvää aikaa harrastuksille ja lapsenlapsille. Kiitos paljon!

To lighten up the cold winter day, we received a summery picture of Evenburg Castle from Leer, Northern Germany. A very impressive building! The card was sent by Weert-Peter, who says he retired last year. Now he and his wife have good time for hobbies and grandchildren. Thank you very much!

Toisen kortin saimme Bellalta Taiwanista. Hänen kuvassaan näemme tyylitellyn hevosen, joka edustaa kiinalaisen uuden vuoden eläintä, on alkamassa hevosen vuosi kiinalaisen kuukalenterin mukaan. Tätä noudatetaan Taiwanilla. Kiitämme tästä erikoisesta uuden vuoden toivotuksesta!

The second card we received was from Bella from Taiwan. In her picture we see a stylized horse, which represents the Chinese New Year animal, the Year of the Horse is about to begin according to the Chinese lunar calendar. This is followed in Taiwan. Thank you for this special New Year wish!

Vielä viikonlopuksi

 

Intian Bangaloresta saimme aloittelevalta Postcrossaajalta, Mudralta, mitä ihastuttavimman kortin. Siinä näemme Pohjois-Intian perinteiseen tyyliin kuvattuja lintuja, ilmeisesti riikinkukkoja. Kuva on erittäin koristeellinen ja värikäs, täynnä yksityiskohtia. Oikein paljon kiitoksia!

We received the most lovely card from a novice Postcrosser, Mudra, from Bangalore, India. It shows birds, apparently peacocks, depicted in the traditional style of North India. The picture is very decorative and colorful, full of details. Thank you very much!

Pitkästä aikaa saimme postia Romaniasta. Pohjois-Romaniassa, lähellä Ukrainan rajaa asuu Anca Bucovinassa. Hänen korttinsa on melko erikoinen: The Merry Cemetery of Sapanta. Siis Iloinen hautausmaa! Jos katsoo kuvaa, voi päätellä, miksi se on iloinen. Se on tavattoman koristeltu ja värikäs.

Anca kertoo kortissaan, miten hautausmaan risteihin on kuvattu vainajien elämää, ammatteja, luonteita - joskus vähän ironisestikin. Yleisilme on kuitenkin iloinen. Tietenkin tämä hautausmaa on turistien suosiossa. Suuret kiitokset viestistä!

After a long time we received mail from Romania. In northern Romania, near the Ukrainian border, lives Anca in Bucovina. Her card is quite special: The Merry Cemetery of Sapanta. If you look at the picture, you can see why it is cheerful. It is unusually decorated and colorful.

In her card, Anca tells how the crosses in the cemetery depict the lives, professions, and personalities of the deceased - sometimes a little ironically. However, the overall impression is cheerful. Of course, this cemetery is popular with tourists. Many thanks for the message!

Tänään saimme kaksi Maisemakorttia Saksasta. Melanien kuva on Berliinistä. Hän asuu Nieder-Ohmenissa, vajaa 100 km Frankfurt am Mainista pohjoiseen. Hän kertoo olevansa innokas jalkapallofani ja erityisesti Eintracht-Frankfurtin kannattaja. Kiitos kortista ja terveisistä!

Today we received two Landscape Cards from Germany. Melanie's picture is from Berlin. She lives in Nieder-Ohmen, just under 100 km north of Frankfurt am Main. She says that she is an avid football fan and especially a supporter of Eintracht-Frankfurt. Thanks for the card and greetings!

Kaukaa Taiwanista saimme kirjeen Emillyltä. Hän kertoo vapaa-ajallaan viettävänsä mielellään aikaa kasvitieteellisessä puutarhassa, jossa on paljon harvinaisia kasveja sekä erikoisia lintuja, jotka viihtyvät puistossa. Oikein paljon kiitoksia!

We received a letter from Emilly from far away in Taiwan. In her free time, she says that she likes to spend time in the botanical garden, where there are many rare plants and special birds that enjoy themselves in the park. Thank you very much!

Toinenkin postitus Aasiasta tuli kirjekuoressa, mikä on hyvä sisällön säilymisen kannalta. Tämä kirje olikin suuri. Suuri on lähettäjämaa Kiinakin. 

Another mailing from Asia came in an envelope, which is good in terms of preserving the content. This letter was big. China is also a big sending country.

Kirjeen lähettäjä on Danbo, joka asuu Lounais-Kiinassa Sichuan provinssissa. Kuuluisat pandat ovat kotoisin sieltä! Kortin kuva on perinteinen kiinalainen lintumaalaus, jonka alkuperäinen teos on Kansallisen museon palatsissa. Linnut ovat valkopääviherpeippoja.

The sender of the letter is Danbo, who lives in southwest China's Sichuan province. The famous pandas are from there! The image on the card is a traditional Chinese bird painting, the original work of which is in the Palace of the National Museum. The birds are white-headed greenfinches.
