Keskiviikon kolmoset

 Sillä aikaa, kun olimme ulkona puutarhahommissa, oli postinkantaja käynyt sujauttamassa kolme korttia: Uusi-Seelanti, Japani ja USA.

While we were out gardening, the postman had dropped off three postcards: New Zealand, Japan, and the USA.

Mareelta saimme Aucklandista, Uusi-Seelannin suurimmasta kaupungista, kauniin kuvakortin, jossa näkyvät, kuinkas muuten, Aucklandin piirteet. Kuvasta erottuu korkea torni, Sky Tower, josta Maree kertoo hypättävän benjii-hyppyjäkin. Lisäksi hän kertoo, että Aucklandissa on peräti 60 vulkaanista kartiota, joista suurin osa on onneksi sammuneita. Kiitos paljon kortista ja terveisistä! 

Maree sent us a beautiful postcard from Auckland, the largest city in New Zealand, showing, of course, the features of Auckland. The photo shows the Sky Tower, a tall tower that Maree says that people can bungee jumps from it. She also says that Auckland has no fewer than 60 volcanic cones, most of which are fortunately extinct. Thank you very much for the postcard and greetings!

Kaukaa Japanista tuli tämä toinen kortti. Sapporossa, tunnetussa olympiakaupungissa, asuu Takahiro, jolta saimme kirjekuoressa taiteellisen kortin veden mielikuvituksellisista olioista. Kortti on painettu hyvin pehmeään paperiin, joten oli hyvä saada se ehjänä kirjekuoressa. Kiitos paljon! Takahiro kertoo, että kortin lähettämisen aikaan kirsikan kukinta oli menossa. This second card came from far away in Japan. Takahiro lives in Sapporo, the famous Olympic city, and we received an artistic card in an envelope from him about imaginary creatures of water. The card is printed on very soft paper, so it was good to receive it intact in the envelope. Thank you very much! Takahiro says that when the card was sent, the cherry blossoms were in full bloom. Now he is already looking forward to summer. Have a nice summer and all the best to you!

Kolmas kortti tuli USA:n Boulder Citystä, Nevadasta. Riley lähetti sieltä kortin, jossa näemme mahtavan sillan, Hoover Dam Sillan. Hän kertoo kortissa, että Boulder City on nuori kaupunki, joka perustettiin juuri tuon sillan rakentajia varten 1931. Kaupunki on poikkeuksellinen siinäkin suhteessa, että se on toinen niistä Nevadan kaupungeista, joissa uhkapeli on kiellettyä. No, Las Vegasiin on lyhyt matka, jos pelihimo yllättää ;)

The third card came from Boulder City, Nevada, USA. Riley sent a card from there, where we see the magnificent bridge, the Hoover Dam Bridge. She says on the card that Boulder City is a young city, founded in 1931 specifically for the builders of that bridge. The city is also exceptional in that it is one of the only two cities in Nevada where gambling is prohibited. Well, it's a short drive to Las Vegas, if you feel like gambling ;)

Kaksi pientä lintua pyrähti lähes ääneti postilaatikkoomme. Pieniä sinipeippoja ne olivat. Tämän mukavan yllätyksen meille lähetti Sarah Wisconsinin Milwaukeesta. Two little birds flew almost silently into our mailbox. They were little blue waxbills. This nice surprise was sent to us by Sarah from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She boasts that they have the world's largest music festival, "Summer Fest", every summer. She plans to go there again, she has been going there since she was 16. It sounds great. Kasan pohjimmaiset

 

Kaukaa Japanista saimme kaksi korttia. Ensimmäisenä esittelemme Qiuyun ottaman valokuvan Okinawan kauniilta saarelta. Qiuyu kertoo olevansa kiinalainen, joka opiskelee Japanissa parhaillaan tohtoriopintoja yhdyskuntasuunnittelussa. Aikaisemmin hän on opiskellut arkkitehdiksi Alankomaissa. We received two cards from far away in Japan. The first one is a photo taken by Qiuyu from the beautiful island of Okinawa. Qiuyu says that she is Chinese and is currently studying for a PhD in urban planning in Japan. She previously studied architecture in the Netherlands. So she is an international person. Great! Thank you for the card and greetings!

Toinen kortti tuli Raymondilta, joka kertoo myös olevansa kiinalainen opiskelija Japanissa. Kortin kuvassa näkyy meille hyvin tuttu hahmo, jättiläispanda, jollaisia Suomessa oli kaksi Ähtärin eläinpuistossa muutaman vuoden. Nyt ne ovat palanneet taas Kiinaan. Suloisia eläimiä! Kiitos paljon! 

The second card came from Raymond, who also says he is a Chinese student in Japan. The picture on the card shows a very familiar character to us, a giant panda, of which there were two in Finland at the Ähtäri Animal Park for a few years. Now they have returned to China. Cute animals! Thank you very much!

Singaporen kasvitieteellistä puutarhaa kuvaavassa kauniissa kortissaan Diana kertoo Singaporen olevan vain pieni punainen piste maailmankartassa. Mutta tiedämme toki sen olevan paljon muutakin. Oikein paljon kiitoksia terveisistä!

In her beautiful card depicting the Singapore Botanic Gardens, Diana says that Singapore is just a small red dot on the world map. But we know it is much more than that. Thank you so much for your greetings!

We saved the greetings from a nice 10-year-old girl from France for last. Her name is Noham. She writes in beautiful handwriting, with different colored pens. Her favorite color is red. A spring greeting arrived from the Netherlands. It was sent by a young lady, Suzanne, who says she is already dating, although she does not live with her boyfriend yet.
